HAND WOVEN BASKETS
The beauty of an Amsha basket begins long before the weaving itself. Using locally harvested elephant grass and natural fibres, each strand is carefully prepared, bundled and dyed before being woven entirely by hand. Working from techniques passed down through generations, artisans build each basket slowly, coiling and stitching the grasses together with remarkable precision. It is meticulous work that can take many days to complete, with every basket carrying the subtle variations that make handmade objects so special.
Amsha partners with artisan groups across rural Africa, creating opportunities for women to earn a sustainable income while preserving traditional weaving skills that have been practised for centuries. By combining timeless craftsmanship with thoughtful contemporary design, their baskets honour cultural traditions while finding a place in modern homes around the world.
