Ilex Studio
The simple pleasure of watching something grow.
Founded in London in 2018 by Ed Spurr and Amy Hall Browne, Ilex Studio creates beautifully considered objects that celebrate nature and encourage us to take a closer look at the extraordinary process of growing plants.
Their clever Acorn and Avocado Vases turn something as ordinary as a seed into a little botanical experiment. Made from delicate yet durable borosilicate glass, each vase is carefully shaped to support the seed above the water, allowing roots to develop and grow freely beneath it. The clear glass means you can watch every stage, from the first tiny root appearing to the emergence of new leaves.
But there is a bigger idea behind these lovely designs. Ilex Studio hopes to encourage more people to grow and plant trees, reminding us that even the smallest beginnings can become something quite remarkable.
We particularly love that these vases are as beautiful when sitting on a windowsill waiting for something to happen as they are when filled with flourishing green growth. A lovely combination of thoughtful design, curiosity and the simple pleasure of watching nature at work.
