"ripples"

Built from hundreds of individually painted and hand-cut pieces of paper, "ripples" explores the way a simple shape can create movement when repeated and layered.

Soft tones of sage, muted blue, olive and warm white flow into one another, forming clusters that appear to expand, recede and gently shift across the surface. Like ripples on water, there is no obvious beginning or end; the eye simply follows one movement into the next.

The depth comes from the shadows between each layer, changing subtly as the light moves through the day. From a distance, "ripples" feels quiet and abstract. Up close, the individual brush marks, variations in colour and the small paper elements reveal the slow, handmade process behind the piece.
